The Worst Advice Ever Heard About Fitness

Unfortunately, we all know someone who is a self-proclaimed fitness guru.  You know the person: the ones who are always doling out unsolicited advice about health, fitness, exercise, and nutrition as if they hold the key to your success.  Not only should you pay zero attention to these fools, but you should also consider your personal opinions on the matter.  Seriously though, doing your own research is the best option.  We all have probably ignorantly followed the advice of one of these “sages” only to suffer the consequences of our inept actions later.  It cannot be narrowed down to one, so here is some of the worst advice ever heard about fitness.

“No Pain, No Gain”

Although working out and maintaining optimal fitness requires a lot of hard work, suffering from too much pain while you do so is not a good sign.  Misinformed fitness “experts” will often tell you that experiencing no pain from your workout means that it was not effective.  Sure, you are probably going to be a little sore after a good session at the gym, but you do not have to strain or sprain something to prove that you mean business.  Your body will respond to a workout even if it is a light one.  So go at your own pace, take your time, and don’t listen to those fools who tell you that you have to be in pain to see real results.  *Note: to further reduce the pain associated with working out, simply perform a warm-up before you begin and a cool down when you finish.

“Eat less, exercise more”

This bit of advice may be true in some circumstances, but it is not a one-size-fits-all solution to your fitness problems.  Each person’s body is built differently; and thus, every person has his or her own specific dietary and activity needs.  For some folks, eating more (or more often) may be the key that unlocks their ideal physique.  Others, however, may need to limit the time they spend exercising because of certain bodily restrictions.  So, when someone tells you that you should eat less and exercise more, make sure you talk to your health care provider instead.  These professionals will know how to determine what is right for you personally; and you won’t have to go through wrecking your metabolism or your body to find out.

“You can sleep when you’re dead”

Sure that statement is true but how soon to you want it to become a reality?  Sleep and adequate rest is essential to developing and maintaining optimal fitness levels.  Taking some time to recoup between workouts is completely acceptable, especially if that’s what you feel you need.  In addition, making sure that you get enough sleep at night is a vital component to the outcome of every single endeavor throughout your day.  You need to know how much sleep you need to be getting for your age and activity level, and then you need to follow that as closely as possible.  If you are unsure as to how many hours you should be snoozing each night, ask your doctor or check out the information presented by the National Sleep Foundation.

Listening to these idiots give you some of the worst advice ever heard about fitness may eventually lead you down a primrose path towards eventual failure.  Being proactive about the information you receive regarding your personal fitness is the best way to avoid bad situations altogether.  As always if you are unsure whose advice to follow, just go and talk to your doctor or a certified fitness trainer.

The Selfie: How It Is Making People More Conscious of Their Health and Fitness

Just about everyone knows what a “selfie” is: that quick picture you snap of yourself on your cell phone camera.  These photos can showcase your best features, whether that be your beautiful smile, your gorgeous eyes, or your remarkable skin.  However, selfies can also do a lot of damage to your self-esteem, especially if you happen to catch a glimpse of your failing health in the photo.  Bags under the eyes, fine lines, discolored skin, dryness, and overall gauntness can be seen easily when you click personal a pic.  That must be why so many people are starting to notice how their selfies are making them a lot more conscious about their health and fitness.

The Transition 

Taking a selfie is a great way to send a smile across vast distances, but it can also convey your lackluster health to the world as well.  Taking unpublished selfies does not make you vain.  In fact, doing so is a terrific way to monitor yourself without even making the results part of public knowledge.  In other words, selfies can be used for more than simply filling up the albums on your social media profile.

Some people like to snap a picture of themselves each day, watching closely for any subtle changes.  In this way especially, purposeful selfies are becoming a highly effective method of deducing one’s overall health and wellbeing.  Being able to see the effects of your chosen lifestyle through a virtual time lapse is a modern-day advantage that has never been possible before.

The Evidence 

When you finally see the value in it and you ultimately decide that you want to use strategic selfies to monitor and/or improve your health and fitness, you will then need to start taking note of the things which indicate where any changes should be made.  Try to keep your selfies in order according to the date they were taken.  If you start noticing any of the following, it could be an indication that your health and fitness are failing:

Sagging skin 

Loose or yellowing teeth 

Bags under the eyes 

Excess fat on the face: jawline, cheeks, and chin 

Dulled, greyed, or yellowed complexion

Acne 

Loss of weight in the face: jawline, cheeks, and chin 

Fine lines or wrinkles/signs of premature aging 

Thinning hair or receding hairline 

There are several other clear signs of failing health and fitness, but you might need to talk to your doctor for more specific details on those.  The basic premise is that if you monitor your selfies closely you should be able to find out if you are doing well or not.

Taking a few selfies is not really a difficult task, especially when you consider all the benefits associated with doing it with a clear purpose.  You should never attempt to diagnose yourself with a simple selfie, but you should start using it for some good.  Allow it to inspire you to become more conscious of your health and fitness.

We’ve all had the dream of working for ourselves. Wouldn’t it be lovely to wake up every morning when you want to, not because an alarm clock is blaring in your ear?  Wouldn’t it be nice to stay in your pajamas and get work done while stopping in between to make your kids breakfast and give them a quick snuggle?

There are a lot of skeptics out there when it comes from working from home.  People try to knock it.  They say it’s a scam or that there is no real money in MLM.  Well I honestly have a good laugh when people tell me that. “Oh its just a pyramid they say”.  Really, because if you knew what a pyramid was you would know that they are completely illegal and Network Marketing is not.

Think of some of the companies that have been around for years.  Shaklee, Mary Kay, Arbon, all of these companies started with a dream and a few employees and guess what…they are still going strong.  The people that were smart enough to get in while the company was first going are now millionaires.  So who is laughing now?

 

You want to get to the real nitty gritty? Think of a corporate job and how they operate.   Now that is a pyramid.  The president of the company makes the highest pay, vice president the second and so on and so forth until you dwindle down to the little people that are working their butts off for pennies a day and essentially making their bosses rich.  Now Im not knocking corporate companies.  Clearly they are very important to our society.  I’m just trying to make an understandable point.  Network Marketing is NOT a scam and is NOT a pyramid.  If you would like to argue this point than I suggest you do your research first

My job is amazing!  I wake up every morning with my kiddos.  I give them some snuggles and make them some breakfast.  While they eat I make myself some coffee and get right to the computer to answer some emails and plug away at my social media marketing.  After about a half hour, I shut down the computer and I do whatever I want, all day.  This is my life every day.  I answer emails, I make phone calls, I train my team and do an occasional wrap party but I am always working on MY time NOT someone else’s.  I will never have to miss a school field trip or send my kids off to daycare.  I will never miss any of their “firsts” and that is reason enough for me to work from home.

A 5 Minute Workout to Tone your Core

Most people simply do not have the time to take a special trip to the gym.  Lots of folks can’t even find the space in their homes to do much of anything, let alone work out.  Still others just don’t have the money to worry about their fitness.  What if you found out that there was a way to achieve the body of your dreams by doing a simple exercise for just 5 minutes a day?  Well, your dreams may have just came true, since now you can use this 5 minute workout to tone your core; and it is more convenient than you might have thought.

What Muscle Groups are Responsible for the way my Core Appears? 

In order for you to truly know whether or not a workout is effective for you, learning what muscle groups make up your core is important.  How will you ever know if the exercises are working in your favor if you never know which muscles should be working?  The core is responsible for some of the most important movements your body makes; so taking 5 minutes to work it out should not be considered a chore.

The major muscle groups that the core is comprised of are as follows:

Pelvis floor muscles

The Flying Bridge 5 Minute Core Workout 

This super quick workout is not only very easy but it is also highly effective.  Find a flat place on the floor to begin.  Now that you know which muscles to be working, let’s find out how it’s done:

Sit down with your knees slightly bent so that your feet are still on the floor.

Put your hands behind you back by your hips with your hands facing forward.

Push your body up into the “reverse tabletop” position until you knees come up over your ankles.

Hold the position for about three to five seconds.

Begin to slowly lower your hips back down until you are again in the starting position.

Do this for three sets of 20, at least three times per week.
